What you'll be doing - the overview

As one of our Retail Sales Assistants, you’ll be responsible for providing an excellent shopping experience for every customer; being able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of all our products and providing expert advice on all aspects of foot health, measuring and fitting.

You’ll assist the Retail Store Manager and Supervisor with the daily operations that we have in our store, so you’ll need to be flexible in your approach to support the business, especially when we hit our peak trading times. You’ll also get involved in helping out with promotional activities that include seasonable events so there may be the opportunity to travel to other locations outside of our store.

You’ll be confident in dealing with all types of consumer interaction including virtual and telephone fitting appointments as well as in person, making customers and their little ones feel at ease no matter what their circumstances are, so they have the best measurement experience ever. They’ll also be times when you’ll need to work to an appointment system (as we get busy at Back-to-School time!) so you’ll have the ability to manage your time well.

There’ll be times when you need to work on your own, using your own initiative, and then other times as part of our established store team. Wanting to learn and develop in the role is something we really encourage too!

What you'll be doing - the detail

• Provide excellent customer service and make Start-Rite the go to place for children’s shoes
• Be fully conversant on foot health, measuring and fitting, providing correct advice to parents on the shoes they buy
• Have an extensive knowledge of all products, features and benefits
• To assist new team members, provide support to the Customer Service team and share best practices
• To promote add on sales at every opportunity
• Do your absolute best to hit all the KPI’s that are set in store – both as a team and individually
• Deal with complaints in a professional manner in the absence of the Retail Store Manager and Retail Store Supervisor
• To live and breath our Start-Rite Brand Values
• To be adaptable to new methods of selling including virtual and telephone appointments
• Assisting and supporting those families with any special requirements that they, or their children, may have
• Process sales efficiently at till point, PDQ and remote payment stations
• To be fully conversant and confident with opening and closing procedures including start and end of day till procedures
• Collection of data capture and the creation of personal profiles
• To participate in Brand training, RAG Training modules and daily briefs as and when required
• To participate in the two-week weekend rota alongside other members of the team
• Flexibility and adaptability to provide additional support during busy times and peak trading seasons
• To be actively involved with the day-to-day housekeeping and store maintenance
• Carry out any reasonable request by the Retail Store Manager or Supervisor or other manager to ensure store runs smoothly
• Check stock deliveries and let the Retail Manager or Supervisor know of any discrepancies and/or shortages
• Assist with stockroom and stock audits as and when required
• To be polite and professional when representing the Company at external events
• To comply with all Health & Safety regulations as laid out by the Company
• Maintain the highest standards of the agreed dress code
