Half-term halloween ideas

Do something spooktacular this Halloween and get together with family and friends for some half-term fun. Here are some frightfully good ideas to get you started…

pumpkin carving

Pumpkin carving contest

A traditional activity that cannot be missed and a great chance for kids to get creative. Get together with family and friends and host a pumpkin carving contest. You can even share the designs on your social media and ask followers to vote for their favourites.

Spooky screenings

Enjoy a family film night. Change into your snuggly PJs and slippers and create a den in the living room with pillows and blankets from the bedroom. Some of our family favourites to watch include Hocus Pocus, Goosebumps and Casper. Don’t forget your popcorn!

spooky baking

Beastly bake-off

Enjoy an afternoon of baking (great for rainy days too!) Try monster cupcakes, spider cookies or Halloween cake pops. You could even save some of the baked treats to enjoy on your family movie night. Take a look at Cooking with my Kids blog for recipe ideas.

Quiz fright night

Organise a hair-raising family quiz night with Halloween-themed rounds. You could also ask friends round to join in the fun too! Great for bringing out people’s competitive side.

Fangtastic fancy dress

Host a party afternoon for family and friends and ask everyone to dress up in their scariest outfits. Pop on some Halloween songs and play some spooky games.

Get crafty

Use half-term to put the kids craft skills to the test. Use items you already have around the house or in the kid’s craft box. Head over to The Best Ideas for Kids for lots of spooky ideas.

Haunted House

Put your kid’s creative flair to the test and ask them to transform their rooms into the land of the walking dead! Provide them with some decorations and allow their imaginations to run wild! The spookiest room wins a treat.

And don’t forget to enjoy some trick-or-treating on Halloween night with the kids. They can use their Halloween party outfit to get the most out of their costume over half-term. Remember to watch out for the friendly ghosts and ghouls!!
